Self Care when I'm sick

You're already sick , Treat yo self!

1. Warm Water/ Juice/ Tea. My sinuses drain a lot these days. Since my throat gets irritated I go ahead and drink lots of warm water with some lemon or lime. I also make different concoctions with chamomile tea and a variety of other substances like honey, cinnamon sticks (and whiskey or vodka sometimes, not gonna lie). Also warming up some cranberry juice helps if you are craving something bitter sweet.

Recently I've been grabbing Vitamin C tablets to give my immune system a boost and adding them into my tea or water. Works wonders.

2. Smoothies!! I also love to experiment with smoothies and my favorite so far to get back to health is a spinach and banana smoothie. Sometimes I’ll add some cucumber if it’s lying around but either way this smoothie is surprisingly sweet so you can pack in as much spinach as you like. Perhaps I’ll start to put some broccoli in there as well…

3. Relax to music (or dance a bit) I love putting on slow soothing music and laying on my floor with my eyes closed. I also will dance around sometimes If I want to make my body feel good and loose. It turns into this body worshiping yoga dance thing- pretty fun ^_^

4. Keep myself warm! I will find my favorite sweater, pair of pj’s, or blanket and wrap myself in it until I am completely comfortable. If my body is trying to heal I want it to be happy while its getting my health back in order. A nice soak in the tub is great for any soreness you're feeling at the time.

5. Take my vitamins. They’re good. I takes em. Though I really prefer my vitamins coming from food, when I’m sick my body needs some replenishing.

6. Indulge Sorry Doc, but sometimes I have to give my tummy what it wants. If that means a Kit-kat bar, so be it. Pretty much anything in life that I find delicious, food, a good book, a song, memories. I will indulge in.

7. Write. Sometimes there’s a cosmic reason for my sickness. I tend to overexert myself or distract myself with working or being “busy”, ignoring some internal issues that are just too complex to tackle on a normal day. Being sick slows me all the way down and makes me pay very close attention to my mind, body, and spirit. Writing helps me get those issues on paper and explore why my life has been put on pause. Sometimes there’s something I need to be paying attention to internally, sometimes I simply touched the wrong door knob that day. Better safe than sorry.

Be good to yourselves, hunni buns <3
